Kodama
/ˈko-dah-mah/
noun
Japanese folklore that inhabit trees. Tree spirit.
Origin: Japan.
Benevolent tree spirit. Echoes; voices of the forest and mountains.
A synergy of aroma and the voices of trees.
A life force within the living, uprooted and fallen.
An invigorating rush of life giving energy. The cleansing aroma of Sugi (Japanese cedar) relaxes and renews with the scents of yuzu, shiso, hinoki and moss. A ringing of temple incense smolders in the distance rooting you in the present within nature.
Sugi wood oil is distilled from the buried remains of Yakusugi trees that are native to the pristine forests of Yakushima Island. Only trees more than one-thousand years old are called Yakusugi. The oil is distilled from Yakusugi stumps and root stocks, which remain free of decay even after 200-300 years.
